Re: Coronavirus update – school closure for most children

Following the latest Government announcement, I am now writing to let you know that we have been instructed to close our Academies to almost all children at the end of the school day this Friday until further notice.

As advised by the Government, we will do all we can to stay open for the children of key workers (e.g. NHS staff, police, and others in frontline services) and those with specific needs. As soon as further guidance on this is received, we will let you know.

As you may have heard in the news all other children will need to stay at home, so we ask that you do not send your child into school from Monday onwards.

Please note that this is a national closure and we appreciate that this is a challenging situation faced by many across the country.  We will re-open fully as soon as we can and will let you know when this is by text message, email, Academy websites.

What we will continue doing while your child/ren is/are at home:

Your child’s learning is of course important to us, so we will continue to help your child to learn.

Our plan is to continue education remotely:

  • All children have or will be sent home with work and equipment to complete during their absence from the Academy.
  • Academy websites will be updated regularly with further work by staff
  • Teachers can be contacted by their Academy email address during school hours i.e. 9.00am to 3.30pm.

If your child usually receives free school meals we will also be in touch with more information about how we will continue to provide this, with support from a scheme that the government has just announced.

What we will be cancelling or postponing:

  • School trips
  • Breakfast or after-school clubs (keyworkers provision still to be clarified)
  • Events
  • Internal exams or tests
  • Key Stage 1 and 2 national tests as advised by the Government

We appreciate this latest news will have an impact on you and your family and we will continue to keep you updated at all times as the situation develops.

In the meantime if you have any concerns or would like to get in touch about anything please contact your Head teacher.

Thank you again for your continued support,
